Brides Up North Featured Supplier

We are delighted to be joining Brides Up North for another year as a featured supplier. There are hundreds of wedding blogs out there but as the name suggests this one focuses purely on the wedding industry in the North and Julia is passionate about promoting the 'Northern Revolution'. We have just been featured on the blog again with some of our new images so have a look and see what other Northern talents you can find.

We are also exhibiting at the Brides Up North wedding fair at Nostell Priory tomorrow (Sunday 2nd September) from 12-4pm so please come along and say hello.

One Sunny Sunday

A few months ago we met the lovely Emilie and John-Paul from Dotmoxee Photographers at a vintage wedding fayre in Prestwich. We loved their stall and photography style so were thrilled when they agreed to spend a morning taking some photographs of us for our website. Luckily the day we had chosen was a beautiful summer's day so armed with a variety of props we headed off to Nuttall Park in Ramsbottom and setup camp in amongst the trees and bluebells. Emilie and John-Paul were so friendly and knew exactly what they were doing, which is more than evident from the beautiful shots they took......

If you are looking for a photographer for your wedding or event then look no further than Dotmoxee Photographers, they are super talented, professional and their work is stunning. You can find out more information about them on their website www.dotmoxee.com or join their Facebook page www.facebook.com/dotmoxee .........check them out!

The 2013 Wedding Industry Awards

We are very excited and honoured to have been nominated for the Live Music category in the 2013 Wedding Industry Awards. As a fairly new business we are delighted that our success and hard work has been recognised in this way and are very grateful for all the support we have received over the past year.

Now we need your help to get as many votes as possible. If we have performed for your wedding after the 1st November 2011 then you are eligible to vote (only one vote per couple) and can do so by filling out a short questionnaire on the Wedding Industry Awards website.

Thank you in advance for your vote!

A Worthy Cause

Last Thursday The Dotted Crotchets string trio donated their time to perform for a charity wine-tasting event at the Belle Epoque in Knutsford, Cheshire. The event was to raise money and awareness for Brainwave, a charity which supports children who have developmental delay, autism, chromosomal abnormalities or have suffered a brain injury. Having performed at the Belle Epoque for a wedding last summer it was great to return to such a stunning venue and we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff and the event organisers. After some nibbles the guests were treated to several different wine and champagne samples, and a raffle was held with the first prize being 2 return tickets to Amsterdam!

Throughout the whole evening an amazing total of £900 was raised, so a big congratulations to everyone who was involved. To find out more about Brainwave please visit their website www.brainwave.org.uk.

A Wedding Carnival

Over the past year we have performed our music at several wedding fayres and have met many great couples and exhibitors. One of the most recent fayres we have done was run by All Wrapped Up Events and Weddings and was held at the brand new Salford City Stadium on the 24th March. Now this wasn't just any wedding fayre, this was a Wedding Carnival and suppliers were encouraged to pull out all the stops to make this an event to remember. Armed with brand new business cards, a handful of sample CDs, a couple of paper doilies and several meters of floral bunting we were ready to go!

The venue is a great space due to the massive windows which lets in the light and by the time we got there the empty space had been transformed into a bride's dream with tables of sweets, stationery, cakes, photographs and fashion accessories. The team from All Wrapped Up had even styled different sections of the room with different themes ranging from countryside chic to an indian summer. The whole room looked amazing.

We set up our stall in the entrance so that the couples could hear our music as they registered with Julia from Brides Up North. Throughout the day we played lots of requests with popular choices including 'Marry You' by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face', and we got to try out some new arrangements including 'Patience' by Take That and 'We Found Love' by Rhianna. The music seemed to go down well with lots of interest from brides and grooms and we're looking forward to working with them soon! I think one of the best things about The Dotted Crotchets is said that when some couples see that we are a string quartet they presume that we just play classical music so aren't interested, but then they'll have a look at our repertoire list and are amazed that we can play anything from Greenday to Michael Jackson.

We all had a great day performing at the Wedding Carnival and can't wait to exhibit with All Wrapped Up very soon. A huge congratulations to them for organising a great event and thanks to Julia from Brides Up North who kept us busy with requests, the Cheshire Cat Cake Company for the delicious cupcakes and to the Ice Cream Dub who saved us from the unexpected summer weather with yummy basked alaska ice cream. We'll see you at the next Wedding Carnival!
